EHF EURO 2018: Czech and Danish victories

In group 5 of the qualifications for the  EHF EURO 2018 Denmark, Slovenia, Czech Republic and Iceland fight for the final two spots.

The first match of the group was played between Czech Republic and Iceland. After a close first half, the team of Jan Basny managed to get a clear victory against the Icelandic team.

Results:

Czech Republic –  Iceland  30 –  23 (15 – 11)

Goals:

Czech Republic: Hrbkova 10, Jerabkova 5, Luzumova 5, Mala 4, Kordovska 2, Frycakova 1, Knedlikova 1, Satrapova 1, Marcikova 1

Iceland: Haraldsdottir 6, Őrvarsdottír 4, Stefansdottír 4, Thompson 3, Pálsdottír 3, Einarsdottír 2, Juliusdottír 1,

In the second match of the group Denmark met Slovenia. Denmark is forced to play without injured Anne Mette Hansen (leftback), meanwhile Slovenia misses Tamara Mavsar, also injured. After a balanced first half, Denmark accelerated the tempo and with help of Sandra Toft in the goal won the match.
