EHF EURO 2018: Norway outclassed Switzerland, Ukraine defeated Croatia

In group 1 Norway played against Switzerland and even if they needed some time to start their offensive play, Norway won this game as a favorite, with a good performing Silje Solberg in the Norwegian goal, hosts did not manage to score more than five times in the first half and they increased the number of their scoring only to 12 until the end of the game. Norway had leaders inVeronica Kristiansen, Stine Oftedal, Amanda Kurtovic, showing a solid defense and getting the two points easily.

Result:

Switzerland –  Norway 12 –  29 ( 5 – 12)

Goals:

Switzerland: Amrein-Bachmann-Hodel-Ineichen-Kundig 2-2, Gautschl-Weigelt 1-1

Norway: V.Kristiansen 5, Herrem-Kurtovic-Aune-Oftedal 4-4, Mørk 3, Arntzen-Brattsett 2-2, Ingstad 1

In the second match of this group Ukraine met Croatia on home-court. Somehow surpisingly Ukraine managed to win clearly against an unexperienced Croatian team, having a chance to be able to qualify to the EHF EURO 2018.

Result: Ukraine –  Croatia 26 – 22 (16 – 11)

Goals:

Ukraine: Volovnyk 8, Borschenko 6, Smolinh 4, Glibko 2, Peredery 1, Redka 4, Laiuk 1

Croatia: Benko 2, Blazevic 1, Debelic 2, Jezic 3, Micijevic 7, Maric 1, L.Kalaus 2, Plahinek 2, Glavan 1, Posavec 1
