Thüringer HC did not manage to win the German domestic league last season, and as runner-up, they had to go through qualification tournament in order to grab a spot in the groups of Women’s EHF Champions League. Herbert Müller and his team took this challenge without struggling, winning their group comfortable in front of Mecalia Atletico Guardes, Hypo NÖ and H 65 Höörs HK.
From last year’s squad left some important players as Manon Houette, Svenja Huber, Crina Pintea or Ivetta Luzumova, but the Czech player came back after just a short break as her contract with her so-called “new club” seemed to not be in order. In addition, Austrian right-back Katrin Engel announced her retirement right before the beginning of the season. On the new signings side, THC managed to sign players who left the undergoing HC Leipzig, Saskia Lang, Alexandra Mazzuco and Anne Hubbinger arrived from Leipzig.
