
The opening match of the group A was scheduled between the two newbies, where Nykøbing Falster Håndbold hosted Vistal Gdynia from Poland. It eas the debut of the both teams in the groups of Champions League and both Danes and Polish girls were a little nervous at the beginning of the game.
The first twenty minutes was a close race, where NFH were lead by Swedish Johanna Westberg, but a high efficiency had also the Japanese rightwinger of hosts, Ayaka Ikehara. NFH is not a rookie only as a team, but they have only one player who already had a slight experience from Champions League competitions group stage, Norwegian back player, Tiril Merg (former Glassverket player). After 10-10 managed NFH to had a more fluent play in attack and with a more solid defense finished the first half 14-10. Polish champions best player was right back, Alexandra Zych, having a quiet efficient first half.
In the second half Nykøbing was able to keep the difference and to continue their strong defense and fastbreaks, scoring several goals after very fast contra play. Vistal Gdynia never managed to close the gap or to make this game tighter, giving no doubts about which was the better team in this encounter.
