In the first round, both teams have been defeated, FTC lost in Skopje against Vardar, Larvik was defeated of Thüringer HC in Larvik. For FTC captain Zita Szucsánszki made her comeback after a long injury break (shoulder injury and surgery during summer), Larvik still has to compete without injured Tine Stange, Thea Mörk and pregnant Linn-Kristin Riegelhuth Koren.
Here in the match opening, Larvik had a strong period, having the lead several times against hosts from FTC. In the Hungarian team head coach, Gábor Elek made some changes and they managed to level the game, then to take the control and the lead. FTC won the first half 18-15.
In the second half Hungarian team had a better start, Bíró made some saves and they managed to increase their lead to five goals. Larvik seemed to not have emotions, they made everything they could to score and Kristine Breistél showed her distance shooting skills, finishing with nine goals. Cassandra Tollbring, Emilie Christensen had also a good performance in the second half. FTC had a huge performance, Dutch right back, Laura Van der Heijden ended up with ten scorings and playmaker Anikó Kovacsics netted eight times.
The match was definitely not one of the best defensives games of neither of the teams since the final score was 37 – 33.
