Hungarian head coach Kim Rasmussen named his 19-player-squad for the preparation for the IHF Women’s Handball World Championship starting on 1 December 2017 in Germany. The Danish coach will take 18 players to the Mobelringen Cup, starting on 23 November in Straume, Norway. The biggest question mark is Zsuzsanna Tomori’s participation. The back player of Győri Audi ETO KC suffered an injury in the previous international week in the match between Belarus and Hungary and has missed almost the entire autumn season, and it is still not sure whether she can travel to Germany or not.

Kim Rasmussen: “It was a very hard decision to make, I am really sorry I couldn’t give an opportunity to everyone, but only 16 players can be named for the start of the world championship. I would like to provide a chance to young players who can be the key players of the team in 2018, 2019 and 2020, so I named Gabriella Tóth and Noémi Háfra in the squad. I hope we can count on Zsuzsanna Tomori, but I don’t want to put any pressure on her after her injury, we wouldn’t like to take any risk so her state will determine the further decisions regarding the Möbelringen Cup, the start of the world championship and the changes made during the championship. We are planning to travel to Germany with 16 or 17 players. Hungary has many great goalkeepers, Blanka Bíró is in a great phase, she is a key player in the current Ferencváros. Besides her, we need a goalkeeper with a different style. Éva Kiss is performing well in Győr, such as Kinga Janurik in Érd, but Janurik is the best in the fast breaks in Hungary, so I chose her. We are looking for the best team, we need to consider many aspects and it is very important to make a team with a good atmosphere and a great spirit.”

The Hungarian squad:
