In the closing match of Round 5 in the EHF Champions League, SG BBM Bietigheim needed a home victory against Buducnost to qualify for the Main Round. Despite the home advantage, Bietigheim struggled a lot in the first half: in the biggest time of the first period, the guests had the lead. In the final minutes of the half, the German champions equalized and slowly took control of the game. At halftime, they were up by 2 goals (12-10). The second half brought a completely different game. In the second 30 minutes, the hosts were clearly superior and their advantage kept growing continuously. In the end, there was no question about the winner: Bietigheim took an important victory in Ludwigsburg and qualified for the next stage. Buducnost will need to keep at least one point at home against Vipers next week to stay in the competition.
