In Group B, Rostov met FC Midtjylland at home in the last round. Earlier, the Russians lost in Ikast against FCM so they were looking for revenge in Rostov. The Danish team didn’t really start well: for the first FCM-goal, Rostov answered with 7 (7-1). FCM wasn’t able to find the net of Anna Sedoykina – the Russian goalkeeper showed a great performance in the beginning of the match. This was a good basis for Rostov keeping their comfortable lead throughout the whole period (15-7).
In the second period, FCM’s best player so far, Veronica Kristiansen found her form seen in the last rounds but it wasn’t enough to stop Rostov. With a little more than 40 minutes played from the match, the difference grew to two digits (21-11) and there was no way back for the visitors. In the last quarter of the game, they managed to come closer to their opponent but the confident Russian victory was never in danger, the match was eventually decided in the first minutes with the 7-1 run. With their 27-20 win, the Rostov will take 4 points to the Main Round, FCM will start the next stage with 2 points.
