Despite the victory, the IHF Women’s Handball World Championship didn’t start well for the hosts: one of the most important players of the German national team, Kim Naidzinavicius suffered a seemingly serious knee injury with just 2 and a half minutes played from the match. The player was taken to the hospital for further examinations during the match and the first diagnose was about a ligament injury. After the examinations, the German Handball Federation (DHB) confirmed the bad news: Kim Naidzinavicius suffered an ACL rupture and will have to miss not only the rest of the world championship but most probably also the rest of the season.
