After taking a hard-fought victory against Norway in the first round, this time, the world champions France played against Austria, with the obvious goal to double the number of points collected. Right from the first moments of the game, the Frenchmen were dominant and kept their opponent in a comfortable distance. At halftime, the difference was already five goals in favor of France (12-17), and the second half continued in the same way. With 9 minutes left from the game, the difference reached the two digits mark (20-30) and even though Austria managed to decrease the gap in the final minutes, France took a confident and deserved victory, even playing without Nikola Karabatic (26-33).
