EHF Women’s Champions League
Main Round
Group II
Bietigheim has arrived in Skopje with only ten players, two of them being goalkeepers. The German champion is in this situation due to injuries and uncommented happenings around some players who were earlier in the club. Vardar seemed to have an easy task, but Betigheim started the game immediately with seven players and empty goal and they have followed this tactical move during the entire match. Vardar seemed to have trouble to adapt to this style, and the first half was very close. Germans were all the time very close to hosts, after twenty minutes the result was 7-7. At the end of the first half, hosts managed to get some advantage and distanced to three-four goals. Especially Andrea Lekic and Jovanka Radicevic had a good performance. Halftime ended: 14-10.
In the second half, the Macedonians seemed to wake up and to crack the code against a hard-working German team and they managed to increase the gap quickly. After ten minutes played there were no doubts which team will be the winner here, the final result was 30-22.
