Vardar is the only team in the competition to participate in every single edition of the EHF FINAL4, so this is their 5th time in the main event. Even though it is the fifth, it might be the last for some time as many of the players will leave after the season and Vardar will build a new team with young players. Jovanka Radicevic was a part of all five FINAL4s, while Dragana Cvijic is spending her first season in Skopje. Will the Vardar story end as a fairy tale and will they make one step further than last year? Let’s see what they had to say to TimeOut Magazine.
Jovanka Radicevic: I am really happy to be here for the 5th time in Budapest at the FINAL4. This is our last season as a team, so we have no pressure. We feel great, we just want to enjoy this weekend, enjoy handball and to show our best. This will be a really special FINAL4 for us with a lot of emotions as we spent beautiful five years in Skopje, but our time to leave has come, and this is just another extra motivation for us. Rostov is a very good team with a lot of good players, this season, they have played some really good matches, so I expect a tough game. But I believe in my team, in our experience and qualities. We will see what will happen, but everything is possible. These four teams really deserve to be here in the FINAL4 and this will be very exciting for the fans, they will have the possibility to enjoy very good handball.
Dragana Cvijic: We came to Budapest to win, this is our goal and we have worked hard for this all year long. This is our dream to win Champions League, and we have these two days to make this dream happen. Rostov is a good team in a very good shape, they have had tough games in the Russian league as well. I expect hard 60 minutes against them tomorrow. We have to play hard and stay focused during the whole game. I believe in my team and I believe we have bigger chance to win than our opponent. This is going to be a very emotional FINAL4 for the team, especially for those girls that have played in Vardar for many years. I am personally very sad that this story is coming to an end after one year. I feel very well here, this team is something special and I have never felt this good in any team before, even though I had chances to go to Vardar before. Most of the girls are from the Balkan region and I have played with some of them earlier. I really feel that we would deserve to make this dream come true because many players will end their careers after the season.
