Vyakhireva: “We had a poor performance today”

Rostov Don lost the semifinal against Vardar, here are the comments and the reactions from the Russian team:

Frederic  Bougeant – head coach

“It was a tough match and we faced the best defense I have ever experienced. We did not have too many opportunities, but the Vardar had always an answer. We wanted to score more fast-break goals, but the Macedonian team did not give us any chance. We have to say after all that this was the Final4 experience for my team and I hope that next year the club will manage to do a better performance with a more collective play.

“Vardar is really an experienced team and they did know how to control the rhythm of the match, not allowing us to play our game.”

Katarina Bulatovic – right back

“We put too much stress on ourselves. In defense, we could not put our best on the court. It was hard today for our goalkeepers because we played really poorly in defense, opposite to the last part of the seasons where this part worked very well.Vardar showed what we need to do on the next occasion.”

Anna Vyakhireva – right back

“Well, it was not good for us, but of course congratulations to Vardar, because they did a good job. Our work was poor today, we did not do anything we planned before. We just did not give them a good fight, what we definitely should have done. We made too many mistakes and did not score enough goals. There were too many errors during fastbreaks as well. Sadly nothing went well today.”

“It is too early to predict how we will play against CSM Bucuresti. We will prepare today. We know this team and they know us as well. It will not be easier, than today’s game. We need to find some power and try to win because it is really important for us. But we should improve in everything! Tomorrow we need to play our game and give our best against a strong team.”
