The title-holders from Győri Audi ETO KC played against Podravka in Koprivnica tonight and they met a hard-fighting home-team, with an aggressive and compact defense, good goalkeeper (Risovic) and efficient offensive play. Anita Görbicz was absent from the Győr’s squad, as were the injured Nora Mörk, Zsuzsanna Tomori, and Emőke Varga as well.
Győr had problems to find the way to the goal, but it seemed that the Hungarian powerhouse had the same problems in their defensive system as they struggled for 45 minutes to stop Podravka players getting through easily and scoring against Leyanud, Kiss or Grimsbö.
Podravka was in lead at the start of the game, 3-1, but Győr managed to turn quickly the result to their favor, 5-9. The first half ended 15-17. In the second half Podravka equalized 21-21, but after 45 minutes they seemed to get tired and made more mistakes than before, Grimsbö improved her performance in the goal of Győr and Amorim, Fodor, Oftedal, and Groot secured the scorings for the title-holder. Final result: 27 – 33
