In the Balkan derby of the group, Montenegro defeated Slovenia in a match where the focus was not on the defensive systems. For Montenegro rightwinger JOvanka Radicevic with 8 goals and Djurdjina Jaukovic with 6 scorings were the most efficient players, meanwhile, Slovenia had Ana Gros, who scored eight and Tamara Mavsar netting seven times.

In the first match of the group, Russia defeated France 23-26.
