Netherlands defeats Spain after thriller


Group C, Montbeliard

The Netherlands defeated Spain in a close, exciting and sharp encounter. After leading by three goals in the first half 14-11, Spain fought back in the second, equalized and had the lead also, having the chance to win this match. Nycke Groot was the real leader of the Dutch team, but Lois Abbingh and Estevana Polman made their contribution to this victory. Spanish Carmen Martin managed to equalize in the dying minute of the game, but Netherland had the last attack and Abbingh scored the winner in the last second of the match, giving her team the two points and the Main Round advancement.
