After some opening match struggle, Germany managed to overcome Netherlands in the opening game of group C in Trondheim. Uwe Gensheimer got a direct red card in the first half because of a 7-meter shot in the head of the goalkeeper.

Germany – Netherlands 34 – 23 (15 – 13 )

Topscorers: Kai Hafner and Jannich Kolbacher (GER) 5 goals each and Kay Smits (NED) 7 goals

MVP: Luc Steins (NED)

Group A, Graz

After an even first half where Belarus had only one goal lead, in the second half, Serbia seemed to get tired and lost the match clearly.

Belarus – Serbia 35 – 30 (16 – 15)

Topscorers: Artsem Karalek(BLR) 9 goals and Bogdan Radivojevic (SRB) 6 goals

MVP: Viachaslau Saldatsenka(BLR) – GK
