Hungary continues to surprise when defeats Slovenia

EHF EURO 2020

Main Round, Group II, Malmo

Slovenia made a good first half, leading with three goals in the pause. Mackovsek, Dolenec, and Zarabec were the goalscorers, Bombac did not play at all in the first thirty minutes. Hungary had Bence Banhidi as the huge profile, scoring on every situation he got and in the second half Nagy and Ligetvari joined him in the attack, scoring important goals. Mikler improved in the goal, meanwhile, Slovenia seemed to lost the intensity from the first half both in defense and offensive phase. Vranjes tried to introduce Bombac 15 minutes before the end, he created many good situations for his team, but Slovenians had a lot of misses on clear situations and Hungary seemed to have a stronger will than their opponents. Hungary managed to take the victory 28-29, the result still allows them to hope for a semifinal.

Slovenia – Hungary 28 – 29 (16 – 13)

Topscorers: Dolenec 8, Mackovsek 5, Zarabec 4, Blagotinsek 4, Janc 3 and Banhidi 9, Ligetvari 6, Nagy 3, Gyori 3
