Yvette Broch is back on the handball court. The 29-year-old, 118-time Dutch international is training with the French top club Metz, where she works together with the headcoach of the Netherlands, Emmanuel Mayonnade.
Broch was one of the best lineplayers in the world for years, but in August 2018, she ended her successful career at the age of 27 . Broch, who won the Champions League twice with her Hungarian club Győri Audi ETO KC , was completely exhausted mentally and physically.
“My body blocked completely, my mind no longer wanted. I felt completely empty and no longer recognized my own body. I went way too far. I had to stop”, said Broch back than.
This year Yvette Broch started to think again about handball, and herself asked if she could come and train at Metz. Now she is back on the court in France, and she feel a great pleasure.
“It took me 2.5 years to learn things about myself and to have other experiences in life. The pressure that I put on myself as a top athlete eventually burned me up. I have become a different person in recent years, in which I saw life from a completely different side “, says Broch, who already played for Metz between 2011 and 2015.
“Now I also experience handball differently. I love to be on the field again and really enjoy it. That is also my intention and we will see. For now it is mainly good training and having fun. I also have a lot of fun and. good feeling at the club Metz. “
