Denmark surprised everyone by defeating Russia with a 7-goals difference in the decisive match for qualifying to the semifinals. Sandra Toft had another big game, even if she was hit in the face early in the game, the Russians could not knock her out, she returned to the court and put the entire Russian team in desperation. Russia was led by Dmitrieva, scoring alone 9 goals, but she did not get another teammate up to the same level and this meant that they lost the semifinal berth.
Mie Højlund made an excellent offensive game, making the Russian defense look inexistent in periods of the game. Ambros Martin tried everything to find the solution against the Danish team and their tactics but never succeeded in this match. Russia will play in the match for the 5th lace against the Netherlands.
Player of the match: Sandra Toft (DEN)
